Commitment to principles of green chemistry The “Green Chemistry Awards,” established in 2020, recognise and honour teams that significantly contribute to developing greener processes as part of our commitment to improving our environmental footprint. We formalized the process for including green chemistry in the technology pack and process documentation during the reporting year. Green chemistry at commercial scale Improved the yield of manufacturing process for an API intermediate using commercially available reagents for a US-based customer. Impact Action • Modified the route of synthesis and reduced the number of steps to 7, against 9 for the overall project. • Achieved a break-through by developing a telescopic process for the first 4 chemical transformations. • Reduced overall isolated stages to 3 from 7. • Minimized water and solvent volumes consumption and removed Dichloromethane solvent from the process. 1174% increase in Greenness Index +42% improvement in process yield 85% reduction in specific water consumption 82% reduction in solvent consumption We received the GSK Environment Supplier Award 2021 in the “Primary Manufacturing“ category for our contribution to environmental sustainability. This award recognized our efforts for effectively integrating green chemistry principles into our process development approach, impacting multiple projects toward green manufacturing. .
