Sai Life Sciences Sustainability Report 2023

57 Waste heat recovery system We implemented an innovative solution to completely recover flash steam and steam condensate at Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) ETP. A Pressure-Powered Pump (PPPU) was installed at the New Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) to transfer condensate to boiler feed tank without loss of flash steam. This increased the condensate temperature and feedwater temperature and led to improvement in the boiler efficiency. This initiative resulted in savings of 3 to 4 KL of condensate for 24 hours of operation because of using the flash steam. This has led to significant energy saving of 0.82 lakh units/annum. Renewable energy We are identifying and designing multiple ways of increasing our usage of green energy. The usage of renewable energy at our flagship manufacturing facility at Bidar has increased to 78% in the FY 23 from 67% in the FY 22 resulting in significant reduction of 14078 tCO2e emissions. We have utilized 45% of our total energy requirement from renewable energy sources at an organizational level. We are also further exploring newer options to increase the usage of clean and green energy in our operations. • Partnered with Group Captive power project for supply of wind power to our manufacturing unit • Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) signed in place for the procurement of renewable power
