60 Biodiversity As an environmental steward, We are deeply committed to protecting and conserving Biodiversity and ecosystems within all our operational boundaries. To boost biodiversity, we conduct regular plantation drives in and around our units and work closely with the local forest department in selecting native plant and tree species for each region. Developed a sprawling green cover spread across 6.2 acres with 5,000 trees in Bidar. Deployed drip irrigation to ensure efficient usage of water by avoiding unnecessary water wastage used by conventional ways of watering gardens. These trees (aged minimum 1 year & oldest being 33 years) offer 113.35 tCO2e sequestration per annum. Carbon sequestration is the process of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. Each tree produces approximately 118 Kg of oxygen per annum. These green belts have become hubs of biodiversity and have encouraged us to step up efforts. We have leased an additional 10 acres to set up a nursery and plant 5,000 saplings by 2027. We have maintained around 40% of green cover at our other sites and promote conservation of biodiversity. Our operational sites are not owned, leased, managed in, or adjacent to, protected areas and areas of high biodiversity value outside protected area..
