Sai Life Sciences Sustainability Report 2023

64 Industrial Hygiene Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs are implemented across our sites in the form of ‘Industrial Hygiene Qualitative Exposure Assessment’ to assess risks for each unit operations and associated tasks. The critical operating conditions are identified based on exposure assessment and the hazardous chemical and physical agents included in the process are listed. Based upon the QLEA, an industrial hygiene monitoring plan is developed to monitor the chemical exposures of the employees working/ handling the chemicals with an in-house expertise. Activity based risk assessment is conducted to identify potential chemical exposure. We have developed a 5 band Occupational Exposure Band (OEB) based on the Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) of a given compound ranging from <0.1 to 5000 µg/m3. We have state of the art containment capabilities at both our R&D and manufacturing units. Containment capabilities at R&D unit Equipment Purpose Containment performance target Glove Box Used for charging of material (into reactor) in a safe & contained manner Achieved up to 1 µg/m3 Flexi-containment Used for powder processing operations (Sifting, Milling & Micronizing) Achieved up to 1 µg/m3 Laboratory Fume Hood Used for reaction work-up (Charging till filtration) Achieved up to 1 µg/m3 Containment capabilities at manufacturing unit Equipment Purpose Containment performance target Isolator Used for dispensing of material in a safe & contained manner. Achieved up to 1 µg/m3 Glove box, Drum Containment System (DCS) & Powder Transfer System (PTS) Used for charging of material (into reactor) in a safe & contained manner Achieved up to 1 µg/m3 Continuous liner port Used for unloading of material in a safe & contained manner Achieved up to 1 µg/m3
