COO’s message Dear Saimers, I am truly delighted to be part of the closely knit family of Saimers! Over the past few weeks, I have been really touched by the warm welcome that I’ve received from colleagues across the board. There’s an unmistakable positive energy among the people here with a strong sense of cultural alignment to doing what is right. This makes me feel very upbeat as I look ahead to my future here. Thank you all very much! I had a chance to browse through the previous issues of Saimers’ Cafe and through the pages, could get a glimpse of the diversity of people in our midst. It makes me feel privileged to be part of such an eclectic group of people, who not just excel at their work, but are accomplished in many other spheres of life as well. Getting to know our colleagues beyond work adds more colour to the people we otherwise know in a limited context. This makes our interactions with them richer and our work, more enjoyable. To this end, Saimers’ Cafe is playing a meaningful contribution to enhancing our cultural fabric. I wish it more success in the months and years ahead. Best wishes, Sauri 3

VM Sai Harini along with four friends, came up with a solution for menstrual hygiene - a problem faced by women in many parts of India. They created a prototype for a sustainable sanitary napkin using biodegradable material – cotton tissue, cotton and a gel pad made from aloe vera and neem. Harini credits the school management which encouraged the conduct of awareness campaigns within the school. She says menstrual hygiene in India remains an unspoken topic while the reality is among 40 crore menstruating women in India, less than 20 percent have access to sanitary pads. The goal, she says, is to make sanitary pads as economical as possible and distribute them among the less privileged so that more women can have a safe menstrual cycle. Her social focus and entrepreneurial journey at an early age has been acclaimed in the international arena too!
