Greater Hyderabad is now greener with planting of over 2,000 saplings

Greater Hyderabad is now greener with planting of over 2,000 saplings

On Sunday, Nov. 27, about a 100 Saimers were present at Chilkur Reserve Forest to launch a Block Plantation project which entailed planting of saplings, which will transform a five-acre open space into a verdant landscape. The project aims to ensure expansion of the city’s green cover, curb pollution, benefit the local community in many ways and support the broader environmental goals of combating climate change.

The drive was organised jointly by Sai Life Sciences and Telangana Social Impact Group (T-SIG), an initiative of the Government of Telangana that inspires corporates to channelize their CSR efforts towards imminent social and environmental causes. The program included a Nature Walk guided by forest department officials, and a collective pledge to protect Planet Earth.

Lauding the team spirit of Saimers, Krishna Kanumuri, CEO & MD of Sai Life Sciences, said: “Our credo as a company is to ‘Make it better together’ and this initiative is a shining example of how we do it. We are delighted to have this opportunity of infusing green spaces in our beautiful city, supporting the Government of Telangana in achieving its environmental goals, and above all, strengthening the culture of environmental sensitivity in our teams.”

Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Government of Telangana, said: “As part of T-SIG, we are keen to mobilise meaningful CSR projects and initiatives that help us collectively achieve the state’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I would like to thank Sai Life Sciences for their spontaneous support in this initiative.”

Over the next two years, Sai Life Sciences will continue to make Greater Hyderabad greener, by tending to the saplings and achieving the goal of afforestation.
