Peptide Science & Beyond: Masterclass & Fireside Chat with IISc Professor, Dr. Jayanta Chatterjee

Sai Life Sciences recently hosted Dr. Jayanta Chatterjee, Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, for two enriching sessions at its campus.

The first was the Masterclass Lecture Series, where Dr. Chatterjee addressed a group of scientists at Sai Life Sciences on “Our Adventures in the de novo Design of Helical Macrocyclic Peptides to Orally Bioavailable Macrocyclic Peptides.” The lecture explored innovative strategies for designing helical macrocyclic peptides, as well as the challenges and breakthroughs in making them orally bioavailable — an exciting frontier in therapeutic development.

This was followed by an engaging Fireside Chat with a wider audience that covered a range of topics, from the history and current state of peptide research to the importance of strong collaboration between academia and industry in translating research into real-world therapeutic solutions.

In a more personal reflection, Dr. Chatterjee spoke about the three timeless qualities he believes every scientist should embrace — integrity, curiosity, and hard work — describing them as the foundation for research that creates lasting impact.

Both sessions reflected Sai Life Sciences’ ongoing commitment to fostering continuous learning and connecting its teams with leading voices in science.
