Reviving Kudikunta Lake: Bringing nature and community closer together

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Sai Life Sciences has taken up the development of Kudikunta Lake in Hyderabad, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and community well-being. The Kudikunta Lake initiative marks a significant step in restoring one of Hyderabad’s key lakes and advancing the cause of sustainable urban living.

The company has initiated a multi-pronged effort to restore the lake’s ecological balance and create spaces that bring people closer to nature. The work includes constructing rainwater inlets to channel stormwater safely into the lake, reinforcing bunds to improve capacity, planting thousands of native saplings to restore biodiversity, installing solar-powered illumination for safety, and creating spaces where the community can connect with the lakefront. We are also building a boardwalk and deck along the lakefront—creating a vibrant space for leisure, outdoor activities, and community events, while fostering a sense of connection and ownership. Our efforts build on the commendable work done by Infosys Foundation during the early phases of the project.

With these efforts underway, Kudikunta Lake is poised to re-emerge as a revitalized urban water body—strengthening resilience, supporting biodiversity, and reconnecting the community with its natural heritage.

For Sai Life Sciences, this project reflects a broader CSR philosophy: sustainability is not just about protecting the environment, but about coexistence—where ecosystems are restored, communities thrive, and urban life becomes healthier and more resilient.
