World Environment Day 2021

Let's nurture Nature for a cleaner, greener future!

World Environment Day 2021

Did you know the world loses a forest area of 4.7 million hectares every year? In the last century, half of the wetlands have turned barren or given way to concrete jungles. The pandemic points to the danger of spread of pathogens as a consequence of ecosystem loss.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, let us take a solemn pledge to revive and protect our ecosystems. By actions small or big, let us work together for achieving all year round, the theme of this year’s Day, "Ecosystem Restoration.”

At Sai Life Sciences, we have implemented a series of measures aimed at environment protection and conservation. Examples include:

• Significant reduction in volume of waste / effluent discharge into the environment.
• Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) process to treat wastewater for reuse in specific operations.
• Utilization of over 90% of hazardous waste across all sites for pre-processing or co-processing in cement industries as an alternate fuel (a shift from the conventional method of disposal through landfill).
• Development of a Green Belt in Unit IV through planting of more than 3000 saplings on barren land.

Every day and in every way, let us move one step closer to our goal of sustainable development. Only then can we bequeath a greener world for the next generation. As Native Americans would say, ”We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
